Our school proudly organized Creative Expression Fest on 13/06/26, for the class 1st to 10th standard. A celebration of creativity, imagination, and talent. The competition encouraged students to showcase their artistic, literary, and public speaking skills through a variety of competitions.
The competition such as Pencil Art competition, Drawing Competition, Poem Writing Competition, and Storytelling Competition . Students created impressive pencil sketches that demonstrated their observation, shading, and artistic skills. Students expressed their ideas and creativity through vivid and unfiltered drawings. Students also wrote authentic poems that reflected their thoughts, emotions, and imagination. Furthermore, in the storytelling competition, participants confidently narrated interesting and inspiring stories, displaying excellent speaking and vocabulary skills.
The competitions were a great success and provided students with an excellent opportunity to develop their talents, build confidence, and enjoy healthy competition.
Our school organized a Memory Test Competition on 4th July 2026, encouraging students' concentration, observation, and retention skills. Students from classes I to V participated enthusiastically in this competition. The objects were displayed for a short span of time, and the event was conducted in a lively yet disciplined atmosphere. It was an enjoyable and enriching experience that encouraged students to strengthen their memory and confidence.
July 1 is celebrated across India as National Doctors' Day, an occasion to recognize and appreciate the invaluable service rendered by medical professionals to humanity and to express our heartfelt gratitude for their dedication. The vocation of a doctor is much more than a profession; it is a noble mission devoted to the well-being, healing, and preservation of human life. Every day, doctors stand beside the sick, offering not only medical treatment but also hope, comfort, and compassion. They are truly instruments in the hands of God.
St. Francis of Assisi School is fortunate to have many doctors among its well-wishers and friends. To honour their selfless service, the school celebrated National Doctors' Day on a grand scale. The chief guests for the occasion were the school's friends, Dr. Rajendra Salagare and Dr. Vijayalaxmi Salagare. During the programme, students highlighted the significant role of doctors in society through their speeches. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Rajendra Salagare emphasized the importance of maintaining good health by reminding everyone that "Prevention is better than cure." He encouraged students to avoid junk food and develop the habit of eating healthy home-cooked meals. As a mark of gratitude, the school felicitated the doctors for their immense contribution and support to the institution. Students whose parents are doctors presented them with roses and conveyed their best wishes in appreciation of their dedicated service.
Following the programme, the Principal, Fr. Jeson Fernandez, accompanied by a group of students, visited several doctors in the city and presented them with flower bouquets as a token of gratitude for their remarkable contribution to the health and well-being of society.
St. Francis of Assisi School celebrated Fresher’s Day and the Investiture Ceremony on Friday, 12 June 2026, with great enthusiasm and grandeur. The programme was organized to welcome new students from Pre-Nursery to Class IX, along with the newly appointed teaching staff, and to officially install the Student Parliament for the academic year 2026–27. The freshers and new staff members were escorted into the school premises by the school band amidst a shower of flower petals and a vibrant welcome dance. The new academic year was inaugurated by Fr Jeson Fernandes, who hoisted the school flag and lit the ceremonial lamp along with Fr Stanis Lopes, a student representative, and a teacher representative. As a special gesture of welcome, the new students were presented with badges, while the newly appointed staff members were warmly received with bouquets of flowers.
The Investiture Ceremony was then conducted for the newly elected Student Parliament. The oath of office was administered by the Principal and Vice Principal to the members of the Student Parliament. The student leaders solemnly pledged to discharge their duties with sincerity, discipline, dedication, and responsibility. The programme marked a meaningful beginning to the new academic year, inspiring students to embrace leadership and service with commitment and integrity.
Eid al-Adha conveys a powerful message that every sacrifice made with a sincere heart brings blessings upon oneself, one's family, and future generations. The festival of Bakrid was celebrated with great enthusiasm and grandeur at the school on 18 June 2026 at 11:30 am. in the Assisi Auditorium. Muslim students, along with teachers and other participants, showcased the festive spirit through dances, songs, qawwali performances, and a skit depicting the significance of Hajj. Dr. Riyaz Ahmed Abdul Gani Makandar, Senior Physician at the General Hospital, Hukkeri, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, accompanied by his daughter, Dr. Taskeen. In his address, he encouraged students to make small sacrifices in their daily lives to achieve great goals and success in the future. His personal life experiences served as an inspiring example for the audience.
The programme highlighted how the contributions of generous and selfless individuals can inspire others to sacrifice their own comforts for the betterment of society. The celebration concluded with a renewed commitment to the values of sacrifice, compassion, and service to humanity.
St. Francis of Assisi School, Chikodi, celebrated International Yoga Day on 20 June 2026 with great enthusiasm and a renewed commitment to incorporating yoga into daily life. The spirit of this ancient practice, handed down by the sages of India, brought together students and staff at 8:00 a.m. on the Assisi campus to pay tribute to its timeless values.
The celebration commenced with a prayer dance, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries on the dais. The programme was graced by Yoga Acharya and university faculty member Dr. Mahananda Mahendrapal, Principal Fr. Jeson Fernandes, Vice Principal Fr. Stanis Lopes, staff representative Ms. Flavia Fernandes, and the School Pupil Leader, Master Soham Gouraj. The Chief Guest, Dr. Mahananda Mahendrapal, who holds a Ph.D. in Yoga, gave a clarion call to students and teachers to practise yoga every morning for a healthy and balanced life. In his address, Vice Principal Fr. Stanis Lopes highlighted the theme of the year, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” and emphasized that yoga promotes longevity, an active lifestyle, and mental well-being across all generations.
Following the stage programme, a yoga session was conducted in which students and teachers actively participated in various yoga postures, stretching exercises, and breathing techniques. The campus was filled with a sense of peace, calmness, and mindfulness as everyone embraced the spirit of yoga. The celebration concluded on a positive note, inspiring all present to adopt yoga as a way of life and to work towards a healthier body, mind, and soul.
